Picea abies also called the Norway spruce is a species popular to Central and Eastern Europe. Large, fast-growing evergreen coniferous tree growing 35–55 m tall. Its trunk diameter is about 1 to 1.5 m. This species grows fast when young and under good conditions, It can be up to 1 m per year. Needles are 1,0–3,5 cms long and cones 10–20 cms long. Species used as the Christmas tree.
